Our Story /
A nonprofit health organization founded by George Soria
47Million Reasons Healthcare Movement Inc. (47MR) is a Florida-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit health organization founded in 2009 by George Soria. The name “47 Million Reasons” was inspired by the roughly 47 million Americans who lacked health insurance around that time, which motivated the group’s creation to help the uninsured.
Soria established 47MR amid the U.S. healthcare reform debates of 2009, proposing a preventive, holistic model as an alternative approach to traditional insurance. In fact, Soria even presented a solution in Washington during the early Affordable Care Act discussions (though it did not gain traction). Since its inception, the organization has evolved beyond insurance issues to offer “health solutions for humanity in need,” addressing broader wellness challenges.
The Wellness & Optimum Care Center (WOPCC) was 47MR’s flagship preventive healthcare center model. The WOPCC provided comprehensive health screenings and wellness services – from state-of-the-art diagnostic exams (DNA testing, labs, EKGs) to holistic therapies – with an emphasis on prevention. Unfortunately, WOPCC closed in 2020 related to some challenges due to the COVID-10 pandemic.
